Useful Links

Calvin & Hobbes

One of my favorite comic strips; very useful for ESL students.

It just came to my attention that most of you are preparing to take the TOEIC very soon.  Here is a list of links to different web sites that I think may help you.  If you know some other sites, kindly share them to me.  I’ll post them here so other students may know about them.  Sharing is a good thing.

LISTENING / PRONUNCIATION:

Listening practice should always be incorporated with pronunciation practice.  The two skills are connected.  A person with a better English pronunciation also has good listening skills.

NOTE: Some of these sites may require downloading audio or media players. Be careful downloading stuff, make sure you scan them first, they may contain computer viruses.

Favorite Sites
911 Language Inc. (Philippines)

The place where I work. You should check this out.  It's full of useful information, especially for those who are planning to study English in the Philippines.

English as a Second Language

Loads of useful stuff on almost anything related to English (sample tests, lesson plans for ESL teachers & cool links)

TOEIC

Everything you need to know about TOEIC

"FRIENDS" (American TV Show)

Let Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, Ross & Chandler be your English teachers. I always recommend FRIENDS (TV show) to my students.  This site has the complete transcripts of the show from Season 1 to 10, very useful stuff, loaded with useful everyday idioms and expressions.

Calvin & Hobbes

Comics are useful tools in learning English.  Any comic strip will do, but I always enjoy Calvin & Hobbes. It might be a little difficult to some students.

Shag Art Baby Yeah!

Josh Agle (popularly known as "Shag"). American painter, illustrator and designer.  I love his work. They're very "mod." Mod is a term popular in the 60s.  It's short for modern. I used some of his art works in my site so it's only proper that I give him due credit. Enjoy.
